Club Update

Club Update

It may be winter in a seasonal sense and it’s also been a winter for many RSL branches, with several closing in the last few years. Hampton RSL, however, continues to work towards building the club and remaining a viable community club for the Bayside area.

Always balancing on a two-edged sword of thriving and oblivion, Hampton RSL has survived many times to reinvigorate its membership and progress the amenities of the club for its members and local residents.

During our seasonal winter phase in 2017, some of the plans over the last couple of years are coming to fruition. With the sale of a parcel of HRSL land last year, much-needed funds have finally manifested which allows us to carry out some important and essential upgrades.

Some upgrades, although unseen are foundational to further works to be undertaken – these include, re-wiring, data cabling, sewerage upgrades etc.

However, other works have already commenced. The separation wall between the old gaming room and the bistro/function area has been removed. This will give us some great options for a much larger alternative function room and ultimately will offer other options for meeting rooms and smaller function rooms.

The office will also be revamped to offer a more efficient workspace for staff, committee and volunteers.

Also on the priority list is the kitchen upgrade, which will enable a broader menu and more efficient food storage, prep and cooking areas for our catering staff.

The biggest expenditure is about to begin on the new bowling green area. Eight new rinks will be installed along with upgraded landscaping and outdoor areas. This work is due to commence in August 2017 and will be completed in a month, depending on the weather.

There’s a lot in the pipeline, which we know will excite members and hopefully encourage new members as well. Let’s not keep HRSL a well-kept secret – and let us all support and encourage our friends and neighbours to join us so that we can indeed continue to build the community hub we want it to be. Come on down for a visit and have a chat to our enthusiastic staff, committee and members, all who are happy to expand on how they see a happy, friendly and vibrant future for Hampton RSL.
