Field of Remembrance / Children’s Anzac Service

The ANZAC “Field of Remembrance” is an annual commemoration held at Hampton RSL. The event involves the planting of white wooden crosses in remembrance of those who have died due to their involvement in war. The ‘Field’ is an area of lawn laid out in front of the cenotaph at the front of Hampton RSL. A fine example of our Lone Pine, a seed of which was brought back and planted by one of our WW1 Veterans, is an impressive curtain for the setting. The crosses are planted in this symbolic lawn, each with a message, and some with a poppy attached.   The “Field Of Remembrance” ceremony is now combined with the Hampton Rotary Children’s Anzac Day Service for local schools and will be held on Friday 21 April, commencing at 10.00am at Hampton RSL,...

Hampton RSL is enjoying having the Bayside Bridge Club each Wednesday and Friday.   The Bayside Bridge Club is a thriving (large) group of Bridge players and some of us didn't realise just how many people actually love to play this intricate card game. It has been said you never stop learning how to play Bridge - so, if you've ever had a yearning to keep your brain active, long time, why not make an inquiry and come along and play.   Each day seems to grow in numbers (almost 100 now) and whilst it is a serious and silent business while the games are on, it is so nice to have such a dedicated group join us. Bringing in the New Year

Entertainment is a major activity of the Hampton RSL and it is reasonable to expect that the New Year's Eve celebrations are the biggest of the year. Down For The Count (who were so good last year we had them back) belted out over 3 hours of Australian rock from the 70s and 80s and the dance floor was certainly spilling over on to the surrounding sections. That was not a problem because everyone was either on the dance floor, at the bar or outside enjoying the starry night. So on the Countdown - 2017 was brought in with raucous cheering and joy.
